Tailor Toyo TT15275 Vietnam Jacket
This Vietnam jacket (Vietjan) was custom-ordered by a US soldier stationed in Nhatrang between 1966–1967, a city known for its strategic naval base during the war. This mid-1960s souvenir jacket features a fierce tiger and good luck motif on the chest, and a beautifully embroidered map of Vietnam on the back.
At first glance, the map may appear uniform, but subtle color changes match the fabric body, recreating the matte texture and handmade charm of authentic Vietjan embroidery. The jacket uses matte thick threads for a subdued, vintage look that reflects its battlefield origins.
Vietjan jackets, like Japan’s Sukajan, are postwar souvenir jackets born during the 1960s–70s Vietnam War, typically made with cotton twill or camouflage poncho liner and known for their bold, symbolic embroidery.
