Product Overview
The Hobonichi Techo ARTS&SCIENCE Wax Coating Kip is an A6-size planner cover created in collaboration with ARTS&SCIENCE, the shop and brand directed by Sonya Park, who also oversees the design of the English-language Hobonichi Techo Planner.
This cover is made from wax-coated kip leather, a type of cowhide leather that is vegetable-tanned and finished with dye. Artisans apply wax by hand to enhance the natural character and surface sheen of the leather.
The deep dark brown color features subtle variations in tone and gloss created by the interaction between the wax and dye. With continued use, the finish gradually develops a softer, more naturally worn appearance and a texture that becomes comfortable in the hand.
Functional Design
The cover uses a simple belt closure without metal hardware. The belt position can be adjusted, allowing the cover to accommodate additional thickness from cards, stickers, notes, and other items added to the planner.
The leather edges are intentionally left without additional dye, allowing the natural leather color along the edges to become a subtle design accent.
The back features the ARTS&SCIENCE key symbol embossed into the leather, while the interior is embossed with ARTS&SCIENCE and HOBONICHI logos.
A pen hook is also included, allowing the clip of a pen to be attached directly to the cover.
