BUZZ RICKSON'S Lot No. BR02853 ERDL CAMOUFLAGE BONNIE HAT
This boonie hat features ERDL camouflage. The loops around the hat's perimeter allow for tree branches and leaves to be inserted for enhanced camouflage. Around 1965, the U.S. military perfected the full-scale ERDL camouflage. The design, inspired by lush jungle foliage, is also known as the "leaf pattern." Early ERDL models were made with cotton poplin, but later models were changed to a more tear-resistant cotton ripstop. ERDL is an abbreviation of the U.S. military's Engineer Research and Development Laboratory, which developed the hat.
