Hobonichi Techo 2027 V&A Series Blackthorn A5 Planner Cover William Morris Design
Product Overview
The Hobonichi Techo 2027 V&A Series Blackthorn A5 Planner Cover is a collaboration between Hobonichi Techo and the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London.
The design draws from the V&A's extensive collection of Arts and Crafts designs created by William Morris and his contemporaries. Inspired by the movement's appreciation for craftsmanship, nature, and decorative design, the cover brings historic British textile and wallpaper patterns into an everyday planner format.
Blackthorn Design
The front of the cover features “Blackthorn,” a wallpaper design created in 1892 by John Henry Dearle, a close friend and collaborator of William Morris.
The pattern features intertwined blackthorn and hawthorn flowers, plants associated with the arrival of spring in Britain.
The back of the cover uses another John Henry Dearle wallpaper design, “Leicester,” from 1912. Its richly detailed pattern features stylized leaves and botanical elements.
Together, the two patterns create a coordinated botanical design across the exterior of the cover.
Interior Details
The interior is finished in yellow and includes a card pocket on the left side featuring a printed V&A logo.
The woven-label pen holder incorporates a well-known William Morris quotation:
“Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.”
The pen holder is designed for the pen barrel to pass through it. Even when no pen is attached, the woven label provides a distinctive decorative accent.
