The artwork was produced using the cyanotype process, a historic photographic printing technique often called a “blueprint.” In this method, photographic chemicals are applied to film and exposed to sunlight, creating distinctive blue tones and visible brush textures that give the image its unique character.

In 2016, Naoki Ishikawa climbed Denali alone during a season close to the midnight sun, where daylight continues for long hours. The endless blue and white landscape inspired this powerful photographic work.
