Tailor Toyo TT15177 Okinawa Jumper Cotton Jacket
This vintage-style cotton jacket by Tailor Toyo reproduces a custom piece ordered by a US Air Force soldier stationed at Naha Air Base, Okinawa, in the late 1950s.
On the back is a highly detailed embroidery of a hot rod-style O-11A American LaFrance fire engine, used by the USAF beginning in 1952. The bold “CRASH RESCUE” lettering honors the elite fire and rescue units trained to respond instantly to jet fuel fires and plane crashes. These crews wore special gear known as CRASH TURNOUTS and operated in extremely dangerous situations, always on standby at US bases.
The jacket itself features a vintage silhouette, including:
-
Boxy body cut
-
Vintage-style collar
-
Front flap pockets
-
Soft, off-white cotton twill for a rugged but comfortable finish
This historically inspired Okinawa Jumper brings together military heritage, American fire rescue culture, and expert Japanese embroidery craftsmanship, making it a standout piece in any collection.
